argh. you want me to donate more? i have already donated 5 dollars (around 220 rupees i think).
Noooo. I want to send you that amount by old fashioned simple means (money order preferably) and need you to donate it to the project in IBF's name, using your hi-tech Paypal or whatever after you receive it.

Preferably, after pooling it with similar small donations.

actually getting a bank account could be pretty complicated. especially in private banks. sarkari banks are easier.

My experience has been otherwise. All my ICICI accounts (personal, not salary ones) were opened with me never visting the branch. I called up their helpline, they came home, got the forms filled, took signatures and documents, initial deposit cheque, and handed over the welcome kit. Account activated in 3 hours. This, as recently as 5 months back.

Getting an SBI account, though not really troublesome, wasn't really that smooth. I had to go personally to their branch - most of which have been renovated by the way with ACs, glass and all - and wait for about an hour or so for them to finish their processing at an unhurried pace. Welcome kit was given, but could be used only 3 days after this.

well you had an existing bank account right?

i am talking about cases when you are opening your first bank account. so you cannot provide them with a cheque from an existing account which works as a pretty solid verification!

Don't worry about it, just send me an address where i can MO you the amount. I am not used to this financial terminology, what am i not being clear about?

No you didn't. This has been happening to me for the last month or so. Double confirmations.

heh ok. i paid for a game on steam yesterday (sort of repenting that move) but got only one confirmation. so today was a surprise. :)

i seriously think that last few pages of this thread should be named as a different thread - may be on "How to make donations for Open Source projects"......coz it can be helpful if someone wants to make a donation & googles it up.

Although i wonder what someone like me without a Paypal account, or credit card, will learn from it. I certainly haven't the foggiest yet.

Quick action by admin!!@ huyogi, yeah but atleast people can share as to how to make donations, when they dont have any credit card or Paypal account. Even i am not having these right now. But i think i am just 3-4 months away from getting my Credit card. the Internship period in which we hardly get any money, is over now. And i am looking for good opportunities for better paid job.@ agantuk, ur view holds good when u have ur own money left after u spend out what u get.But in my case, it was different. I had to take from Dad to meet some of my expenses, coz i had a compulsory Internship till now, in which we hardly get paid. not even peanuts. :(

Do you guys have credit card from Standard Chartered bank using which you make online payments and stuff? I am so darn confused right now.
