E20 Fuel May Cause 2-6% Efficiency Drop, Not Engine Failure, Says Transport Minister Gadkari
The minister said in a response in parliament that depending on the vehicle category and its age, the efficiency of a petrol engine could decline by 2 to 6 per cent.
Ethanol has calorific value 30-35% lower than petrol so on 20% adulteration there will be 6-7% drop in bs6 e20 compliant and higher in non compliant vehicles. This is scientific statement unless meracleusly someone found way to increase milage from ethanol but in that case same formula should work on increasing milage from pure petrol. I will stop here as I don't want to be called off by investigating agency
Also so called reduction in import bill is also inflated number not actual one as it has not factored in reduction in milage
