Idea 3G coverage is 1 or 2 point here yet I get good speeds. however, I read there are antennas exists which can help. but this modem does not have a "CRC9" antenna connection option. I read there are tricks like using a aluminium foil covered cd and fixing the modem in the spindle hole and using extension cable and point to the tower direction helps? but I tried this and it seems not working.
another trick read is, using a half cut pet bottle and covering it with aluminium foil and placing the modem inside. not sure.
Is there any other option exists? ebay India used to have a supplied which sold antennas whose end sticks to the body of the modem with a clamp like thing. not any more?
Any other option exists?

e303c is the best modem I have ever used. good antenna coverage and rarely gets disconnected. I use a 2meter USB extension cable(of good quality) and it helps. e303D Idea netsetter is not unlockable yet.
by the way, I am using Linux OS and this modem gets detected and I can connect in 2-3 seconds. perhaps, using Windows Networking tool(if any) to configure a connection for this modem rather than using Huawei dialer. only thing useful is RSSI meter(Signal strength displayed).

I am too using E303c, its a excellent budget modem.
Earlier I've used infact still use sometimes Huawei E160X (known as K 3565, under voda)
Both Above modem doesn't have a "CRC9" connector, but in E160x, I disassembled the modem, and made a Hole as the "CRC 9" was available near the SD Slot, but was hidden for some reason.
Don't know about E303c, but it might have a antenna connector like E160x, Else one can take out required PINs and make a DIY Antenna for his purpose.
My signals are currently 70-80% so I am not interested in opening my E303c Yet :-)
for windows based usage of huawei modem, you can use MDMA and see if it helps you see information you want.
Lastly, lot of people are working on e303ds-1 unlocking, many claim there were able to unlock, but I don't have much info on that modem yet.
Seems like there are 2 version of hardware based on different IMEI Scheme, and one is unlocked and published on most forums dealing with un-locking.

@ghpk: that's some great information. there is a inverted "U" like metal protrude from the modem? see above usb connector in the modem:

if I connect a metal wire to it, will it work as antenna? this modem got 1 year Indian warranty and I am worried to open it to see if CRC9 connector exists for it.
in france and euro countries, they have "e303m" sold. is it a hardware upgrade? sadly, we are not having this here. btw, how is the service for Huawei in your areas? no one stock this modem or even huawei phones in my native town(near kochin) and most are having alcatel x230 imported from some gcc countries. I was thinking, if I get a bunch of these e303c's supplied to the mobile shops here will work good for me? mobile shop fellas told me huawei's service was pathetic and hence no one stocks any more.

the crc9 connector is absent in most of the new modems.there are companies who offer antenna adapters for the same.

What I assume of that "Metal U" its to restrict users to apply more force to the modem on a USB port, as the connecting metal was Extended in Length as
compared with older modems.
This doesn't appears as any CRC 9 functionality of modem, however will check for it.
Huawei service is OK in my town, some friend used it however the replacement was not instant, but was done in 3-5 days IIRC.
