Hi guys I really don't understand why u guys hate Sify so much . I really have no vested interest in Sify, by the way.Sorry to be out tune with the rest of this forum, but I'm quite happy with Sify. I get very good speeds with my Unlimited 256kbps (EY56) connection. Downtime is minimal, maybe because I have a very efficient CTO (cable operator). No 150 MB cap on my Connection...... no sirrrre !!Only prob is the MAC ID thing and that has been hacked I think.OK, the popups initially after logging on are a pain..... but its only a minor irritant and a small price to pay for an excellent Connection and let me tell you I know what I'm talking about..... I've been using the Internet since the good ol' dial-up days in the late '90s !!:redface:As is obvious, I use my unlimited Connection to download all the latest movies and games and various software.I also play on the Counter-Strike Servers of Mumbai with 40-50ms ping, sitting in Delhi !!What more could anyone want ??? (Other than 2MB speeds):P

Yes of course I agree with u that service from sify is quite good, the speed always one can get is optimum.
From the point of view related to speed one can't complain. In case of 256 kbps one will obviously get min of 250kbps. Speed does not go down from that as far in my case earliar I used to have 64kbps(8KBps) then min I got 7.7KBps always:thumbsup:.
Sify is always accurate in this. I don't any other ISP can beat this reliability.
Also their server is very well configured so that one will not get affected by any type of viruses(of course if u don't do anything silly).
The only problem is their plans and the great 150MB cap, that I think this is a big problem:madness:.
If it goes down then do not blame onto Sify because it is a job of cable operator. Allover Sify is reliable.:yahoo:

1) 150 mb limit exists and i got my 128 kbps connection finished in 7 days by *someone* else and there was no mistake at my end .2) Huge port blocks . Go to grc.com and check urself . Yes if cto is good sify might work good but even the best cto wont take calls at night .

I think u r doing some mistake, static IP address of sify cant be hacked. No one can use ur account except u. It may happen to DataOne or Tata Indicom BB.

Tell ur cable operator they will solve all ur problems.

my friend shifted from sify cuz1) his cable operator was charging him an extra 100 odd bucks, and with the tax it meant that he was paying abt 1000buks for a 256kbps plan with a 150mb during the day limit. he shifted to bsnl where he got the unlimited plan for 100 bucks cheaper! n.. no limits!! lets face it, u dont wanna take sify cuz their plans r better than the rest.. n.. to add to it, the variability of the service u get from ur cable guy.. well.. just doesn't make any sense to put in ur money into something this dodgy..

sigh..... why don't you guys read the sifybroadband packages page properly.
The 150 MB cap is there on some plans but NOT on the EY56 connection !!
OK, it is the most expensive Pack of the lot but I don't mind paying a little extra (including the Rs.100 CTO charges) for an excellent service !
The MTNL/BSNL connection may be faster, but if something goes wrong, one will have fun explaining the Internet to some sarkari babu !!
