Excitel Broadband User Experience in Gurgaon

@r19

1. How long are those outages?

2. What do you get FTTN/FTTB? (Also, which is better?)

3. How's the overall reliability wrt speed & complaint resolution?

I am not sure how your ups can power the gateway in your area :D I have enough power backup at my place. If the source does not work, my backup is pointless.

Congratulations. Penetration of BB with LCO is increasing day by day. Finally some relief from expensive Airtel plans. Also Hathway has started 350 GB FUP plan, 50mbps for Rs 2800 or so.

i still cannot dump airtel because of the reliability factor. dad would drive me nuts if his net goes down for a few minutes even during day time.

Yea, airtel cannot be ever dumped due to their excellent service/up-time. I myself have Hathway as the main connection and Airtel has backup. Also, these new players are pre paid as compared to post paid, so any month you dont want to use, just dont pay.

yup. i can see a lot more defacement by airtel salespeople around my house. i am guessing they are realizing the shitstorm they are going to face in the coming days. 799 unlimited 10mbps! who would pay for airtel or reliance or bsnl! they practically have my entire sector as potential customer base.

ps: i do wonder why they decided to start from sector 31 here in gurgaon. did they notice that i lived in sector 31 :P probably not. but it's still amazing to get lucky finally. excitel does not even appear to have an active social media team spamming social platforms or blogs or forums. so it's rather interesting to be the first in gurgaon to be able to get it hopefully by the end of the month. i could not see any office or hoarding in my sector's market or any brochures. but several people around my sector have confirmed that wiring has been done in their lanes so looks like they would start offering connections only after wiring the entire sector.

But weirdly they are just too stubborn. I lived for a small time in Nirvana (gurgaon) and max ADSL speed available by them was 2mbps. I went after their customer care, management team and finally got my connection shifted to VDSL (just changed the router and profile from backend). Speeds increased to 18mbps. Now I am trying to do the same at Punjabi Bagh (Delhi), but they just wont do it, saying not feasible. And ironically, here my max ADSL speed is 8mbps lol.

So dont know, what they are up to. But yea in the coming months, they will lose out on customers for sure.

EDIT: You are lucky finally excitel is there. Both spectranet and Excitel are so VFM. Hathway has solid backend and constant speeds, but not as VFM as compared to these two.

i have been hearing about network upgrade for years now. still 4mbps is the max they offer. not sure about bsnl but reliance also has 4mbps max (3mbps in reality). reliance goes down during long power cuts as their backup is only for an hour or two. local guy has clearly said that he cannot do anything about it. company forward all my complaints including about site blockage and routing problems to the local guy who calls me on a daily basis highly annoyed (ab kya hua?). i told him yesterday that his problems with me are close to ending as i would most likely dump reliance in the coming days. he be like, complaint close kar doon? good stuff.

i believe reliance people also ask you why you are disconnecting when you apply for disconnection. i can probably write them a novel about my experiences. i just hope they would not fuck it up and would close the connection properly without any delay. i have 60GB on airtel backup so i can easily manage without reliance. i just need excitel to confirm that they are indeed launching and i can get a connection.

Bhai itni excitement ! Hope excitel fulfills your expectation.

After all can't be worse than handling reliance you are experienced of.
