Hey folks
There's a small thing I've started noticing...
See this
Don't know but now it seems like my excitel connection is half duplex. Whenever I'm downloading something at 300 Mbps while uploading at the same time the speed is getting divided. See 169 Mbps upload & 163 Mbps download. Don't know what's the issue. I've already verified other users such as @Lolita_Magnum are getting full plan speeds for both uploading and downloading at the same time. What could be the cause of it? In my area excitel has EPON network is that the reason? Put some light on it @Chip & others who understand this issue. I think it started happening since the plan upgrades or who knows when but I recently noticed it. Also is this issue from my side? I am directly connecting CAT5e cable to my Laptop from main router. I even tried connecting my TP-Link router but same results. Also how to explain this to their customer service people?
@Life_Warrior do you get full simultaneous upload and download speeds on excitel?
Also if you guys can share screenshot of parallel downloading and uploading at full speeds that would be awesome. It will be easier for me then to show it as a proof to the customer service guys.
Thanks for clearing one factor @HC1337 now the question remains... If EPON isn't causing it then what is?
Can this be created or configured at the OLT side where some sort of setting is enabled like "only allow full plan speed in half duplex mode or divide upload and download as per plan speeds".
I have checked my LAN settings it's showing 1000/1000 full duplex. I tried connecting my TP-Linkrouter too and that too says full duplex. My PPC Excitel's router also says connection is full duplex. I have also raised a ticket and they're asking for speedtests. I'll also share them the results. Let's see what happens. As you said probably an OLT misconfiguration. Do share more thoughts if you think other variables are there too...
Yes, it's an OLT issue. Even on Giga Half Duplex, you will not experience such issues readily. But good luck trying to convince Excitel about the issue, since all they care about is their speedtest.net which does not do simultaneous tests.
