Excitel Fiber Broadband Experience in Delhi NCR

@Lolita_Magnum exactly what you said 😂... "Sir as speedtest results are perfect we can't raise a ticket as we aren't allowed to do it without any speed issues". I had a conversation with him for like 1 hour and at last he said mail to us so we can connect to higher people. Have they did it on purpose? I mean the OLT configuration thing? Is the OLT remotely controlled by excitel or by LCO? Will talking to my LCO about this issue make any difference? Can he change this configuration? I don't think they have such an authority without permissions.

@Chip as @HC1337 mentioned Yes, I have checked all the details of my network card as well as adapter settings. Everything is good to go but it's just clogged by backend. Let's see what happens next. I shared @Lolita_Magnum 's screenshot which he shared few days ago while simultaneously uploading & downloading.

@havoc LCO don't have access to OLT configurations, OLT's are installed and managed by Excitel only. LCO can only get the access with non-administrative privilege, just to check and monitor the OLT, if he wants.

@havoc I dont really know about Excitel but I know about Airtel LCO Model. The LCO is not allowed to do anything with the OLT. OLTs are maintained and configured by Airtel Engineers(official ones not the chamchas of LCO).

@nishantt6969 Yeah, Same is with excitel. Because every time something happens to OLT's or anywhere someone wearing excitel shirt comes and changes stuff. I neve saw any LCO changing stuff there at excitel. Even I saw this on YT videos. Thanks for sharing guys.

@havoc OLTs are remote managed...via separate interfaces either serial or LAN.

From my chat with the BSNL LCO, they are not the owners/managers of the OLT (from BSNL auth. vendors only) and only BSNL is authorised to make changes. Even speed upgrades are done by BSNL's office after a written application handed over to some 'sahib' in their office.. These guys never change.

So, LCOs are basically sub-cons who sell, install, configure CPEs and provide L1 support to customers. He's responsible for last mile connectivity i.e. from the OLT to the home/premises. All else falls with the provider.

I can't imagine other provider's LCOs to be very different from this. There may be exceptions of course.

@Chip That's not entirely correct with BSNL. They have 2 models, if it's a BSNL exclusive LCO what you said is right, and the other is where the LCO owns the OLT and BSNL does not have any rights or access to their equipment. My LCO is not BSNL exclusive, so he has total control over the OLTs. As for speed "upgrades", it does not come under LCOs. You can use their self-care portal to "UPGRADE SPEED" the process is pretty quick. The last time I upgraded, I requested at 12:20 AM and it was changed in 20 minutes. As for downgrades, for some reason, they removed the option from the self-care portal.

@WieldyBinkie well maybe my LCO falls in the 'exclusive' category because this is what he told me...everything backend is via BSNL, they can't change OLT settings.

I wasn't aware there are two LCO models but as I said in my post there may be exceptions because TBH this is my first LCO connection. My last connection with BSNL was a xDSL connection many years ago. I am aware of the speed upgrade via the site but it never worked and this chap told me a letter would be required for changing plan. Anyways, thanks for the update about their dual LCO model. Also, does this differ from State to State or is it uniform all over India?

I think it's for smaller towns or places where BSNL can't directly reach. I saw a BSNL LCO youtuber which was showing everything configuring the OLT & all. He had full access to OLT but he had only one downlink of 1 Gbps. So I guess for smaller towns etc. They use this model.
