stealing ip is not really going to work out. india cannot isolate itself like china has done. so it's likely that they licensed the tech from one of the many operators (
samsung?
Nokia?) and got some local partner to manufacture the hardware in collaboration with the IP provider. it's not like we would ever find out if the actual hardware is being imported from china or their manufacturing partner is a chinese company.
i mean they already have a huge deal for LTE with samsung right? so it's likely that samsung is working with them to manufacture the required hardware locally.
the other unlikely scenario is that they created their own 5g standard and would push it in india like what china did with td-scdma. in the end, reality would come out sooner than later.
