If it had been a file system corruption issue, I would never have been able to log in. Which I could. It's just that within 5 minutes, the system freezes and a black screen shows up. Restart and repeat. You open Fedora, click on a few things and then the system just gives out. That's not a filesystem issue, I think.

Ya then your's is most likely a different issue. The filesystem issue you couldn't even boot just an error message would be displayed.

Not sure what issue you have. The closed that a similar thing happaned to me was in my friends laptop in Ubuntu his non open source Nvidia drivers would just stop working after 2 - 3 minutes and the display would go black.
