Actually if its used in public, it is possible to prosecute under defamation of character (lawyers can confirm it). But,a) Its used between known people at a friendly levelb) Its used between known people for a brief skirmish, but they tend to forget & forgive and/or keep in mind for a later hit backc) Its used between strangers for a brief skirmish. Nobody wants to take the time & effort to run behind each other for worthless issued) The issue has worsened to the level of fistfights & more, at which point, the use of unparliamentary language seems hardly worth thinking about compared to the bigger stuff. For the record, I neither use, nor am I comfortable with the usage of the language in my presence.

Speaking about rules i got banned last time for no reason ....OT: Even the current songs of HS have double meaning but they get played everywhere.. Maybe some of the people against honey singh etc put some light on that and again a wave of social war will begin. :smiley-cool06:WEED! :001wub:

you do what you want to do in your private space. that is what freedom of speech means. this forum is not your private space. this is more like a school or a workplace with its own set of rules.

Exactly, and so the Internet is...YouTube is!

Btw you misinterpreted feeedom of speech.

ah well. i am misinterpreting a lot of things here. my basic stand has been. honey singh should not be targeted here in india for what he did in uk or usa or canada or where ever. if he sings vulgar songs at a private function, i do not see it as an illegal activity. a vulgar song that you have to pull yourself to play is not the reason behind rapes in this country. banning it would not fix anything. targeting the individual is absurd. a ban on the song is same as ban on a literary or art piece (mf hussain, salman rushdie). there are enough laws in the land to target people for indecency and they are often used for all the wrong reasons. we do not need more laws that give powerful people tools to target common people. if you want to stop rape, focus on changing the outlook of the society. there are enough areas where you can target which are publicly committing illegal acts in the name of religion and caste etc.

that song was recorded in pakistan. it was never released in india on CDs or whatever. it was never played on television as there is no official music video of it. from that point of view, pakistan is apparently more liberal than india considering the singers of that song are living a perfectly normal life and they are well known and are often invited at public events to sing the same ****ing song.

Kyu thak rahe ho! :DApply the formula of Gayatri pariwar and hope for the best. Apna sudhar sansaar ki sabse badi sewa hai.

Ok.. Let me enter into a dangerous territory of discussion here. I am not saying that such songs leads to rape. But look at this hypothetical scenario.A guy is travelling with his family. When a couple of mischievous drunk guys start to sing the vulgar songs. A lot of you & maybe most of the "scared" us in favour or letting it be or ignoring it. A few I am asking would turn around and say - these are cool guys just singing a song which they think is decent & all. Lets just ignore them. But a few short tempered person may try to force the people to shut up. And it might result in bad consequences. Seems farfetched? Did you read how the delhi incident started? Now many would say it need not be the song, the guy may just use speech or some other bollywood number which could have the same affect & I perfectly agree. But dont you feel that the more such songs are allowed in public domain, the more brazen the culprits would become in using it than the standard bollywood number? And more the chances of a guy trying to defend his friend/family than simply avoiding it? Its hard to define decency and considering the vast views in our country, it would be impossible to get a consensus, but the least the we can do, is to stop the blatant obvious. And thats my whole point of argument. I think I have had enough of the say here. And people who may object to my views above, wont they be guilty of questioning MY freedom of expression.

Well said.

Hanging people will not stop rape in our country, social changes have to occur, this process takes time but cultural and social education will indeed make a good diff. :)

Cultural and social education.. Seems like a dream to me... Best of luck. :D
