thanks for the links, will try this myself.. been having problems which i believe might be from firmware issues

Hi, I have a peculiar kinda trouble. I have been using the Wifi modem from bsnl(DNA-A211-I) for the past 2 months. All of a sudden about 2 weeks ago i realised that I could not connect to the Wifi from my laptop. When i scanned the area i found that my modem had somehow managed to change the settings on it. The SSID was changed to ITI and the WAN settings had about 8 entries in it. I reset the settings back to the desired one and it started working again but then the problem reoccured after 2 days. Now it seems to be happening even more often and it does not let me reset the modem either. I need some advice please. Will upgrading the firmware help?Cheers...Arwin LawrencePS: I have a pretty strong password with WPA PSK encryption, so i dont suppose that someone could have hacked it...but its still a possibility.

Hi,Somthing i forgot to mention on my previous post is that I had changed the passwords for the 3 logins but when this thing happened it resets the passwords as well. When i first got the modem it did not have any settings on it and was completely blank. Now when these reset/whatever happened its like resetting to a different set of settings with the SSID as ITI. I'm wondering if it is reseting to some factory default. Anyways thank you for the link, I have downloaded the firmware and will try flashing the modem. Will let you know of the result after i try it. Thank you for your help :happy:Cheers...Arwin

hmm.. for some reason your modem is automatically resetting itself..are you connected via USB? do you use any scripts on your modem ( from your pc )?

Hi,

After your suggestion I downloaded the software update and updated my modem. I initially had trouble signing into the modem page but after a few resets i guess it just deceided to work and let me in. The update ran well and it finally gave me the message "Update Successful". :yahoo:My questions now is, when i got the modem first it did not have any settings at all in the Wan page but now it had about 7 settings on it. Does this have to be as it is? I've removed them all and set it to the default 0/35 setting and its working for now. Thank you very much for your help. I hope it does not reset again...

Cheers...
Arwin

Hey,

Sorry i forgot to answer your question. No, I am not running any scripts. Atleast not that I know of. Do u think that there is a possibility that something from my system is causing my modem to reset? If yes, is there a way to check for that...

Cheers
Arwin

PS: I connect 1PC thru LAN, 2 laptops and 2 PDA's...

An advice to everyone...
Boycott dna a211 adsl modem. It has some very weird issues. Mine worked for three months and then it stopped storing settings and keeps restoring back to factory settings. Modem is already flashed with latest firmwares. It's actually a hardware issue. The bsnl guy confirmed he received similar complaints.

It's a cheap remake of seimens sl2 141
