@warthog, this may be offtopic - Are you aware of membership cards by supermarkets/shopping mall which we swipe at payment counter to claim membership points on the purchase done. I realised that while we swipe, the details about items purchased could also get registered and the shop could identify what items have been purchased by any individual.Is this again breaching any privacy, Whats your take on it?(ofcourse the card swipping is not cumpulsory, and customer may opt not to swipe his card)

yeah i know.this is incremental ism.they do this slowly over decades to condition the public.from credit cards to debit cards.IN 2008 ndtv and the banks held india banking 2020 summit.They openly said that cash would be abolished and your national id chip will hold all the data.

there would be no privacy left even though the constitution mandates this.

umm i dont really have a lawyer. one of the members of this forum is a lawyer and he helps me out with legal mumbo jumbo.

i am not really interested in getting involved in lawsuits for 'personal' 'privacy' rights.

i did not even want to get a voter ID card. my dad forced me to and what I got was pretty disgusting.

Gandhi(ji)'s time was different, this times are different. And protests have hardly brought any positive results in recents days (except lathis to protestors).
My views - yes what you are saying is right, our privacy is at risk after such laws, but I believe on ability of our govt, who after 60 years is not yet able to advance technically in fields like Electricity, Telecom, Television (PB), so till they implement NIG, it may take another 25-50 years.

Do you think such a system could catch the bad guys before they strike next ? -- I don't know the answer :huh:

Notice there have not been any notable attacks since 26/11, mostly because those responsible are lying low, biding their time whilst preparing for more attacks.

If this new system helps the various agencies streamline their processes to deal with the problem then i'm for it. But if it does not catch the bad ppl and only causes trouble for innocent ppl then i will be against it. So what this means is we give this system a chance before condeming it.

As the threat we face is very real & sure to bite. Its of an order of magntiude larger than what those in the west face and yet did you see how far they went !!

Finance & immigration is something that is not tracked to much degree here at all. Well, ppl dont pull these ops off for free & without personnel. Follow the money and usually you find the guilty.

Tell me if another 26/11 or two happens then what the chances of a war could be ? Just think what that could entail

You just handed the bad guys a victory they could never have acheived by themselves. So the solution lies in raising the cost of carrying out these ops, as thats the best we can hope for. Just read this article to get an idea of what we face. Understand that these moves are being put in place to counter the accusation that the govt. is soft on terrorism.
