Alright let's take a look at our choices.

1) Govt. bans all things which are deemed harmful to the collective good of Indians. Citizens are denied the basic right to watch porn and visit sites and blogs which promotes anti-India sentiments.

2) Govt. decides to let it the way it is and things like these happens

A real tough choice but I will go with the option 1, what about you.

this one thing about Indian govt has always worried me, remember that the emergency provision in our constitution is a direct take off from Hitler's constitution during his reign over Germany, of course our constitution has taken the best from all over the world but that was stretching it a lot. i don't like govt and people taking liberties with my privacy be it on net of IRL, the Americans voted in the patriot act and now look how the general public is crying over the harassment by TSA , DHS, and feds but at least the supreme court there barred feds and NSA from having real time feed to all internet activity of Americans via isps. in india under the IT 2008 they already have it , that is why problems over Skype, gmail and RIM and for god's sake can any one explain it to those idiots the bads guys really won't be using gmail or skype , for ****'s sake there are free tools on net with which i can encrypt my mails or files, or entire disk that no one can break in, ppl use encryption not because they have something to hide because internet is full of bad wolves looking to collect your data , any mail provider without https is no no for me or any reasonable user. my business mail server is uses GPG and is nignin proxied over https over another back end D.C , not because we want to hide anything but our mails contain sensitive customer data which cannot travel over net via plain text or we will lose 99.9% of our clients. same goes for BPO industry it will die out in india if these things carry on , custmoer data or privacy is more important, if the bad guys wanted to communicate over net they will using such methods that any surveillance over them is useless , even if they gave you keys to cipher and you have the most powerful computers hell you can break it like in a million years !! that is the tech of today !! all these moves every govt shouts them as important to security but are really designed tho control the net and censor it , we have seen how powerful internet can be in recent movements in middle east , Indian govt is very clever contrary to popular beliefs they already have all the kill switches in place if it was not for a very much free main stream media things could have really bad out there. as to the topic , thank you i would perfer privacy any day, rather die like a free man then live like a coward and i would like to ask the guys saying that this is right and important , why do you close the windows in your house or lock the doors , if the govt asks you, will keep them open 24/7 ? and to end a quote from John Gilmore ' The Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it'

the state of new Hampshire motto is "live free or die".What you people are starting to realize that this is all being done purposefully to control us.

Here the Indian govt hands in destablizing a duly elected state govt in west bengal.Times now is covering this since 2 days

I called various civil society groups from pucl to cis india and told them to please file a case agasint this.
in sec 67 the govt can force you to decrypt info and if you dont comply it is 7 years jail. This violates right against self incrimination and sec 69 is even more worse,it allows carte blanc tapping.

This is just a beginning, there is NO UID law but yet 4 million id cards have been issued,1000's of cctvs are everywhere, license plate cameras that violate right to confront your accuser, due process.

Welcome to the world of the 21st century

btw pucl is contemplating to file a case against this.I was telling then since 2008 and now they are doing this.It will take 2-5 years for the judgment to come out..
