I'm planning to get a new Airtel xstream broadband connection as my location is now covered by them. I currently have a hathway broadband connection which I plan to keep as backup.

(Offtopic - I also have airtel DTH and a prepaid mobile number which I plan to merge for Airtel black consolidated billing)

I want to know what all I need to make sure to ask/clarify with the technician beforehand.

Like what Airtel ONU equipment is best if I just plant to use it as a bridge and use my own router? I have a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X (it is flashed with OpenWRT) and want to use it as my main router and a Asus RT-AX1800HP, that I already have, as an Access Point.

I have a VSOL 2.5g ONU (got from @anmolbhard004). Will it be possible to ask the technician to use that itself when installing the new connection?

and other advice regarding these things please.

Not sure about using your own ONU, but Airtel will put their router in bridge mode if you ask them. Then you can use your own router as the first (or only) router in the line. You will need to either enter IP address (in case of static IP) or configure PPPoE in your own router.
