Is it just me or the chats are now showing up under 'Sent Mail'?
Is it the new 'Hangouts' effect?

lol yeah. gmail chat history has turned into a mess. individual entry for each chat message. that sort of mess up the all mail view as well and as you indicated the sent mail view

Ok. Here is the thing. Google actually is doing it like Facebook Messages now.
Each contact/group would get one single thread. What you and me have are buggy implementations that would be fixed in the coming days.
Gmail is supposed to have one single thread for each hangout.
