I used the internet at night time as well. The speed never increased more than 280kbps as contrary to 2mbps, what I should have been getting. However, the speed on the MTNL customer care website was showing 2Mbps during those hours.

MTNL is a fairly good options given the choices we have in delhi..but delhi still sucks in the overall broadband scenario even compared to india. cities like hyderabad and kolkata have speeds of 10-15mbps for as low as rs.1000-1500 per month without FUP's and we in delhi are paying rs.1250 (including taxes) for a 1mbps connection.

highly irritated right now as I've made about zillions of calls to MTNL customer care, emailed deadsl email id, have given personal visit to sanchar haat and also have called up different concerned people who have given me a lot of false commitments! And still i'm getting speed around 250-300kbps, (30-35 kbps) all the time.

Has any technician visited your home to check the modem/wire since u raised the concern?

Nopes. Nothing from their end.

All of a sudden, today I at 11:20 have received a call from one of their technician, who confirmed my plan and told me that he would be dropping an email to the server guys to set the speed accordingly. I told him that I have sent an email to deadsl, but he said, 'sir mere mail daalne se hee hoga' and then told me that 'sir kal tak pakka ho jayega and nahin hua toh call me again on wednesday'. So, i have my fingers crossed. Then at 12:35, i received another call from customer care asking me to check my net speed; but since I was not at home, so she said, you can call us back if its not perfect.@lake1988 my modem is fine as I have checked with another modem as well; and so is my wire as I can see decent SNR margin and line attenuation on my modem's page
