It's not at all like Google Talk. Can't see online contacts. It's more like whatsapp I guess. Everyone using Hangouts are always online.

That's a good thing from what I see. Offline messaging was a hit and miss with Google Talk really.

It's impressive that Apple approved it just in time.
This screenshot tells me that Nexus 7 should get support soon enough. And the Chrome app should get a major overhaul soon as well.

Ohk. People are going to hate Hangouts on the web. Because it shows your recent conversations and not people online right now.
Online people have a small green bar so you do notice them. But it is still annoying not to be able to see just the people who are accessible right now.

It worked for me on the second attempt! I have dnd enabled.
