Is there any way to get email alerts from Gmail thru desktop? like yahoo messenger....

if you are using chrome, it should show you desktop notifications just fine.

google talk desktop app. any third party app that alerts you when you get a new email in your email account.

It has been getting bug fixes update on a regular basis. Never saw any update on my phone
So, I had resetted the phone 2 days ago and Hangouts updated just fine on my phone. Still an older build.
