Anyways. I would add my own comments here. I own a Nexus 7 for the last couple of months. It is definitely not dying. I do not use it as much as most people would so that might be the reason.
The problem I believe is the Android 4.2.2 update which has also been terribly slow on my Galaxy Nexus. It is a software problem that would be probably fixed in the next update.
Sadly, it seems that the next update of Android might not be released for Galaxy Nexus so that would be sad for me personally.

Let's hope so. I do not expect Android 5. But Android 4.3 would be nice. 4.2.2 is horrible on Galaxy Nexus. Need some Project Butter definitely. It would be shame if it is left on this crawling edition of Android.

Google updates a device till the device can handle the newer version upto Google's mark and 4.2.2 is a little buggy and takes more battery so they will update every phone/tablet from 4.2.2 to a newer one. Nexus S was left because it was a very old hardware and cannot handle newer version so it has been left behind

Project butter was almost died with launch of 4.2.1 and they didn't solve it with 4.2.2. My dad's galaxy nexus have apps not more than 120. And most of the time, after using any app extensively if he returns to home screen then it takes a while for content on home screen to appear. I don't have much hopes from 4.3 but I think that the problem will probably get solved with 5.0. The rumours are that Google is building much lighter version of Android then current version. So there's no technological reason for 5.0 not to support the GN.
