lol. I made my contact number public just a few days ago and I am already getting calls through my profile. Just got a call from 011-28745197 (Delhi) inquiring about my google+ account and if I wanted to sign up for this lottery thing. I wonder how widespread this scam is and if I can do anything about reporting it!
My mobile number is quite widespread among spammers. I am not sure how they got it, but I think either they got it through Job portals like Naukri, or Banks, or LPG provider. These are some places where mobile number is compulsory needed.
I have not even used my mobile number on Facebook/Linkedin etc social websites. I think adding mobile number in public view on Google+ is disaster unless that mobile number is for business purpose and you expect calls from clients.
