by default emails were turned on. i turned most of the options off because i was getting tired of getting emails.

this should not affect sending and receiving messages to email addresses anyways. so i am sort of confused by your problem

I think it shud be a bug then. Use the send feedback button on the bottom right corner.......coz we all are getting it.
