If you click on "devices" section on Play Store, it opens the Google Store. I guess this new store is for Google hardware.

Google Play now only sells Google Play Apps, Music, Movies & TV, Books, and Newsstand.

google play is still technically an online store. sure it was weird ordering hardware stuff from it. especially considering hardware could not be ordered from the mobile app. hopefully google store would gets its own mobile app!
