Guys I have applied for UL 900 plus plan. I will get it on June 1 onwards. So I'll tell you the feedback about how it is... I went to BSNL office today and gave the SDO, the letter for conversion from Home 1800 512 plan to Home UL 900 plus plan. I asked him about the deposit amount which I paid for the previous plan(Home 512 which is 1800rs) that whether it'll be adjusted with my nex bill? He told me that he doesn't know about that. Well, that doesn't seems like a responsible answer from the SDO. Then I asked about this with JDO (or JTO), he told me that it will be adjusted. If its not adjusted then I'll have to give'em a request letter to transfer the deposit for that plan to the current plan. These guys have some serious complex routines... I really hate this. I am waiting for the next month bill and thinking how will it be and how am I going to argue with them and get my money out...?? Well I hope they don't cheat on me...
And one more thing... It seems they can give ONLY UL 900 PLUS plan and NOT UL 900 plan.Do you guys know why??? Bcoz their system is not updated with Home UL 900 plan... or they say something like the Home UL900 plan is not out yet  . Home UL 900 PLUS plan has a condition that the number which holds it comes under ONE INDIA plan. So no free calls per month. Every call that you make is charged Re.1 and Home 900 plan keeps the voice rental same that you are currently using now and you'll have free calls every month. SO PLZ MAKE A WISE CHOICE. You can bring down the bill of your broadband but inturn, if you make a LOT of voice calls like you used to make before... then your bill is gonna be heavy...
Well remember the cost per pulse is less for UL 900 plus it is re 1 instead of current re 1.20 so this plan could be better.I am also waiting for june 1.
I am waiting for july 3rd .....I will shift then.....because mycollege exam starts next month and shifting to another plan will result in shift of home (at least my father thinks so)
So thats fine then if they are not giving the home ul 900 plan. The only ppl who r going to be be affected by the home ul 900 plus are ppl who make a lot of fone calls using that fone line... then it must also be true that ppl who use that fone a lot must be getting bills for a fair amount... bsnl has a free fone system in place for ppl with high usage... so you get another fone connection free of cost if ur usage is high... so then just apply for that and then use that line for ur bb. Hope that made sense.

Omg... the wierdest thing happened rite now... I had not applied for any dataone connection and a guy came over with a modem n stuff to install the internet in my house... wtf... haha... Damn and i renewed sify only 2 days ago... damn damn damn... well I wrote in a bunch of papers that the guy had brought with him that I would require it the next month... hope their service is prompt.... and I get it first thing next month... well from what I had heard their contention ratio was 1:8 but then again that was for limited data plans... which is pretty decent. If that remains the same... then this will be a real treat.

Hi priyoban ,
I would like to get a broadband connection at home. I would go for unlimited coz i dnld a lot.I stay at Garia (Baishnabghata, 45 bus stand).I called up Airtel , they said they don't cover garia yet. Sify said they'd call me up in 3 days . Their site says that service is available in garia. I have a 2nd phone for existing phone with BSNL. Maybe i can convert this to UL900.
Seems you have used both Sify and BSNL broadband. Which one is better as in speed and cost(including modem rental , initial setup/connection cost/deposit )?
^^Lol... what made you think I have both... Well neway want my advice? You wont need any... why dont you just look at the sify broadband forum once... read some of the posts there you'll know why. As for Bsnl I haven't used the unlimited package but from what I've used it's the best youll get considering Airtel is out of the picture. Do you use torrents? Thats probably the only place where you might run into a bit of a problem... since the ul/dl speeds aren't the same. But that'll be a minor problem considering the service you'll get so you can always make it up. Hmm so go ahead... read the sify forum once... your choice will be very evident after...
Hey priyoban, thanks for your reply. I don't use torrents. I dnld songs or videos using limewire, listen to streaming music on winamp, voice chat on yahoo . That's all. I guess bsnl connection speed shud do just fine. I checked their site for modems and connection info and I couldn't understand what modem types (I,II,III,IV) are and if usb/ethernet is good for me? Will you be so nice as to give me some pointers? I'll try and list my confusions 1. I have a calcutta telephone phone (unintentional rhyming) with a sulabh II plan (Monthly rental Rs. 160/- and outgoing calls only thru IT card). Is my connection ok for getting broadband?2. If I get broadband everyone can still call up (my mom ) while I am browsing , right?3. Which modem type to go for ?as in , type I, II,III,IV? and usb or ethernet? I dont have a lan card, but can get that.TIA,Anant.
