I have paid 6600/year which includes all the SD and HD channels for one year. I think now they have 3300/6 months. I was paying 220/month earlier for all the SD channels.

I'll be happy with SD channels, cos i still have an analog set(pretty new). I want SD in digital cable, and not analog cable. So, will it cost 220 per month? I can happily afford it when compared to current expenses and no of channels.

It depends on area to area. I heard that in some part of Bangalore, monthly subscription is less than 200 and in some areas it is around 250. So it monthly price depends on your local cable operator.

And extra for the Digital Box, that would cost some 1000 Rs. I will have to buy that too. Will soon throw my Dish Antenna and STB. Thanks for the Information.

HD news - ESPN and Star Cricket will be introduced next week.

Whilst we can pass Dolby signals to those who have Dolby licensed devices, the problem encountered is that it becomes a default setting with the result that those who have no Dolby device, will get no audio at all. Since there are far many sets without Dolby, we are working on a solution to pass both PCM & Dolby. This is under development and we will keep you updated.
Thank You.Please take care of Zee studio HD sound(PCM only). All voice coming in right speaker only..middle speaker and left speaker coming nothing. All other HD channels sound coming fine in PCM 49.

Please add comedy central, movies OK masti, music express, music India, etc, gemini comedy,Sony mix channels on Hathway Hyderabad. what about Sun HD channels??is there any possibility??

SD box is availale for 750 bucks. Go for the Skyworth box and not the Cisco one.

Whats the difference? Are they two different manufacturers? Should i buy that from the cable provider? or can i buy it anywhere outside?

Yes, they are two different manufacturers. When Hathway started digital transmission, they used the Humax STBs. Those were the best. Unfortunately, these are not available anymore.

The second gen came with Cisco boxes. These were the worst of all. They could receive only good signals and were prone to hanging. A lot of these boxes also did not have proper controls. A few of these are still in the market. Stay away.

The latest STBs used are the Skyworth ones. Although these are the bulkiest, they are atleast decent ones. They come with features closest to the Humax ones.

You can ask your cable operator to get it for you. Alternately, it is available with many retailers selling electronic goods. (in Bangalore, you can try SP Road). Do note that the STB should be in a sealed Hathway branded box and comes with a 1yr warranty.

Oh ok, so... if i buy an unbranded(not hathway), then it won't work for Hathway Digital Cable. Am i Right? Or can i use any digital STB for Cable television for Hathway?
STBs for DTH will they work for cable television. How are they different? Because i have a Dishtv STB.

No DTH stb will not work at all for Digital Cable. Dish tv is DVB-S standard and Digital Cable uses DVB-C technology. Its better to buy DVB-C STB from local cable operator only as the viewing card ID is unique to the local guy.I got 2 Hathway boxes for Rs800 from local cable wala and installed them on my own.

I did not know that they also have VC (just like DTH). I still have a long DTH subscription. So, it might take time for it to end and then to switch over.
