C'mon, they give u HDMI cord. Their 3D feature itself is based on HDMI v 1.4!!
:P sweeeet....

Jaymin, are you getting 5.1 audio in all of their 12 HD channels? Mme getting tempted again...

Let me tell u how my connection goes:

I have HDMI running from the HD DVR to TV. And TV is connected to the 5.1 channel speaker via Component cable. And at times i have got decepted by it........i dont remember whom i had told this before, but its a fact -

I was sitting near the rear speakers & on Travel XP HD, there was some cycle coming from the left of the screen. Since i was busy in some other work, i actually saw in that direction for any cycle coming (My house is on Ground floor, so often i hear cycles pass!)

While watching TV, i dont get decepted. But in these type of cases i do get. Its happened a few times.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About ur temptation.........
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well let me remind u that if u want to watch all 12 HD channels at reasonable prices, then u have to get Platinum HD Pack, costing 441 pm, or 4850 pa.
Otherwise, as add-ons it does cost good amounts:

This is how the Costing goes:

U take a minimum base pack - New Gold Pack - Rs. 165 pm + Addons........
HD World (6 HD Channels) - Rs.88 pm, Star Asli HD Pack (4 HD Channels) - Rs. 61 pm, Sports HD Pack (2 HD CHannels) - Rs. 88 pm.

Total cost pm - 165+88+61+88 = 402 pm
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now in this example, i took New Gold + Addons. So that means u dont get other English News Channels, English Movie channels, Free Movie channels, Radio channels, etc.

Even after spending Rs. 402 pm, u have to miss out on these channels. So obviously its better to go for Platinum HD, which gives u all channels at Rs. 441 pm.

I am telling this, so that u dont curse me after u purchase!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What have i done??

TIll now i was on Gold Sports @ 237 pm. Then 15 days back i took HD World thinking that its still around our Cable bill.

But since i wanted Sports HD, i shifted to Gold pack @ Rs. 165 pm & got that thing activated. Thats not all. After the lock in of 1 month, i will deactivate HD World.

Phew!! Too much juggling around with packs!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottomline: Opt for HD of D2h only in following cases:

1) If u can spend 4850 pa, or 441 pm, or
2) U can juggle around a few packs, and hence viewing a lesser no. of channels.

I am in the 2nd category, coz i dont need the channels that i miss out.

are u getting DOLBY DIGITAL from ur HD satellite box? i also getting only 2channel audio like the OG poster over here,
yes i m using coaxial & its on home cinema setting, what u are getting is not dolby digital its ur tv creating 5.1 virtual sound AKA simulated sound not pure dolby digital..

Thanks..

ok guys got it to work, few HD channels do have dolby digital, u have to change the language option of that channel :mean:

Dude, I would like to clarify once again its not Dolby Digital, instead 5.1 High Defination Surround Sound. And its available in all HD Channels, but one could hardly notice it on NGC HD and Discovery World HD bcoz of its programme content, but can easily be noticed on rest other Channels.Specially I love the Star Plus Theme Music in HD.

I like that girl whose close up is shown at some times. She also features in Star Plus Anthem. :D

She looks pretty in HD!!

----------

Btw, when i switch to that other language on Star HD channels, the audio goes flat. Cant hear anything on that language option.

Would like to add one thing here- Please don't connect your TV to the Home Theatre and expect a 5.1 Channel sound BECAUSE THE TV ONLY PASSES THROUGH THE SOUND AND DOES NOT ENHANCE / UPGRADE / DEGRADE IT. This has to be done in exceptional cases where your TV works as a receiver and you use it as a computer monitor as well. To get the best sound performance connect the HDMI Cable from the Set Top Box to the TV and connect a TOSLINK / SPDIF cable from your STB (based on the Audio-Out connector available) directly to the Home Theatre's Audio-In jack. There are mainly 2 types of connectors, other than HDMI, that will help you get a 5.1 Channel Surround sound, i.e. Optical Digital (TOSLINK) and Co-Axial cable. The connector types on the STB Audio-Out and the Home Theatre Audio-In should be the same, i.e. either TOSLINK or Co-Axial on both the sides. If you are going to the market to buy a Home Theatre *after* buying an HD STB then make sure to check the type of Audio-Out port on the STB and then accordingly select the Home Theatre.I know people who had Co-Axial out on the STB and they ended up buying Optical Digital IN on the Home Theatre. This is a waste of your hard earned money.

Now i heard this Optical Digital for the first time.....is it still something different from Component cable?

I knew about HDMI, Composite & the co-ax or SPDIF. I even heard about an upcoming tech - HDBaseT. But not this one....Time to google!

----------

Ok....heres the Wiki link: TOSLINK - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

----------

Quite different than the Composite as i earlier thought! :D

Do you have an idea if the Zapper box has the standard 2.1 Channel Audio-Out ports? I mean the ones where we plug the Red and White male pins of the 2.1 Channel Audio Speakers.
