I agree with rsatbf......better go for HD - and its available for 2,490 only if u dont want DVR.

But i will still answer ur query - frankly speaking, i found the SD also decent enough. U cant expect any SD signal to look "Seamless" on 42" TVs, but it still looked quite decent - i have 42" LED.

Checked up with Customer Care this morning. they have a HD DVR and not HD STB for 2490. /Veda

What do people do if the HD Channels are so expensive to subscribe.
Does a HD STB/DVR do intelligent upscale of Channels that are not HD or
Does it behave like a Normal STB if it is connected to a large LCD for regular non HD channels?

I was not really sure if i can do away with a Normal STB for a large LCD.
HD Channels are so limited and expensive. Wonder the quality of picture on a 40 LCD.

Veda....Check this link for the info - may be Call centre people, as usual are ignorant - i have least hope on such info from them. Stay connected with their page on FB, or with the Online Team for latest updates.As regards Standard channels in HD STB, this is not my comment - 1 of my relative's comment: "The graininess (Pixelation) in the video has reduced a lot since the last time i saw this." He had last come before i got HD STB, and even without me telling him that i bought, he passed this comment. I then told that i have got a new STB......So, there has to be some improvement over the SD box.And on costing of HD Channels - its the Packages that are faulty currently.U r pretty much right that package is costly - even i wont buy the Diamond HD/Platinum HD coz its out of my TV viewing budget. Even if i do revise it & plan to spend that much, i still dont want to compulsorily subscribe to the other channels of Diamond pack, just to watch a few HD channels.Many would be thinking on these same lines. So it is but obvious, that they would be coming with an HD Add-on.Once that happens, it would really be worth. Coz they are offering a few really good channels:Esp, travel XP - EXCLUSIVE ON D2H AS OF NOW - And its superb. On 1st thought u might feel "what will i do of Travel channel??" But when u see, u will love it. It has become my Favourite.And Movies Now HD - I think except for Tata, all others have this.They are even testing 1 more HD channel, which is not visible - it just shows the message "Channel not subscribed".
