The only difference I feel between Movies Now SD and Movies Now HD is aspect ratio. SD is 4:3 whereas HD one in 16:9. Also Movies Now shows lots of Advt which spoils the viewing experience. No of repetition of movies is very high . Movies now don't have HD logo bcoz Channel was launched as HD only and SD is the downscaled version .Remote of HD Zapper have bit harder key effect as compared to HD DVR . Rest all things are same except that DVR have additional recording related keys. Honestly speaking I didn't liked the remote. Lots of improvement required in remote as on date.TLC SD itself is having superb quality. So I enjoy it bt now I prefer Travel XP HD over TLC. Most of the programmes are similar, but TLC being older player leads. No only Microosft, even companies like HSBC, Tata Communication, Reliance Communication had fixed Patch Release . But it will take years for d2h being so streamlined.

Talking about the remote........ its surprising that no 1 till date has bothered to look in that direction. Neither do we see any such complaint from users on FB page, nor any suggestions to improve it, nor any voluntary improvements by themselves!

My STB hung today morning while on Discovery World HD and again in the evening when my wife switched ON the Active Services to listen to the radio. I am writing to the customer care now to look into the matter. On an average, the STB hangs once everyday, which I think is abnormal. Also, my STB package had a sticker on it which reads "Only for GVK (not exactly sure if it's the same, but something similar)...any idea what this is?

Even for one on my friend , his zapper is to hang minimum once in a day, he has written a mail to CC. They have replaced it later and now his new stb is not getting hanged.I suggest you to even escalate the issue,

Thats coz of the old software. I am very much sure now that ur firmware isnt the latest. It shud rectify after an update. But nonetheless, its always good to bring ur issue to their notice. Do write to them & lets hear what they say about this.

It was raining heavily in Bangalore today and D2H hung on to its transmission quality and signal strength pretty well. I am loving it :)Received an SMS today that the engineer will visit my place within 24 to 48 hrs for looking into the STB. Yesterday I had reported an issue regarding my STB getting hung once everyday while switching to Active Services or during random switching in between channels. Since I am sure that this issue is not related to the Dish Alignment, I am not going to allow him to touch the Dish unless he guarantees that the Signal Quality will remain as it is after his maintenance is over.

Its definately an STB Issue. Even I am facing this. I don't have time to be present while engineer visits, so i ignore it and restart ;)

well nice pics npat. i too have the same download id of 8,and have kept the stb continuously on from last 15 days, still no update. they do the update as per their own internal schedule. as per the hanging part,my zapper stb has hanged only twice so far,dat too once during active services and the other time while showing the "video con" welcome screen,it got stuck at 99 %.so it should not hang during changing channels. it's neither the issue of firmware,as i too have the same firmware. so tell them to change the stb and don't let them touch the dish,as it has got nothing to do with the signal quality, alignment. you are getting nice signal quality.also as you are telling "gvk" is written on the stb, maybe the gvk co must have put their stamp on it. ask d2h engineer,if it's a brand new stb or they got the used one from gvk co. because usually, stuff belonging to the cos are stamped.also is the manufacturing date on your stb box is may 11?

Good Ashish that you reminded me...The STB is manufactured in May 2011 and has a red sticker on it that says "To be used only for GLK"...when the engineer brought the STB during installation I had checked it to make sure it was sealed.

----------

Ok, I just realised that GLK stands for Go Live Kit...so nothing special about that sticker and no need to lose sleep over that as well...as they say, Baaki Sab Ke Liye GOOGLE Hai...:)

Ok thats great. And now that Ashish has shared his experience, its clear that even the firmware shud not be an issue. When the engineer visits, he might try to tell u, "Software update ke baad thik ho jayega". U have to catch those words then & there, and show him with evidence - that another user, with same firmware & same model, isnt facing that issue.
