On 26th the bank sent an SMS abt a new HDFC mobile app. On 27th the update was made available to the public. And it was MAJOR TOTAL SCREW UP as I could not create a 'quick access pin'. I get a msg 'This facility is temporarily unavailable. Pls try again later’. Don’t know Y the hell didn’t they test the s/w BEFORE releasing it to the public. Surely they don't expect customers to do their beta testing. The app was totally unusable for me. I could not even login using my usual net banking id & password. Another shocker for me was it auto populated the OTP but I was NOT asked to give my consent for the app to read my SMS. Reeks of either incompetence or arrogance or both. Also the comments in Play Store show that I am not the only one facing this problem, infact there r others with many more problem. They even had a major news paper to publish an article about this good & great app:sneaky:. I guess I should have checked the comment section before updating. I hope readers wont rush to update like me :cautious:

Another problem is most of us have automatic updates enabled so this app will trickle down to everyone without even knowing.
 
@Sushubh Thats the old app they have reintroduced on Google Play store. Apart from the shockingly long delay I find that the old app cannot be found on Google Play Store (confirmed to me by their phone banking executive). I was very unhappy using a link given by your social media team as I AS A RULE DON’T CLICK ON BANKING LINKS IN SOCIAL MEDIA, I think it flouts the basic tenants of banking security for the customer. But that’s the only way to access the app as of now. I wonder how customers who are not on social media will be updated with the latest. Why not communicate also with sms/email. Non have been sent on this topic about this entire issue right from the time this problem started. What a bummer. Never expected such a BIG bank to go around llike a headless chicken. Or is it just plain arrogance & ignorance. Been a customer for 20 yrs but never seen this level of incompetence.
 
Their implementation of login via Quick Access PIN is just shit.

Four digit numbers.
You need to re-register even if you uninstall/reinstall app for some reason.
You can't reuse a previously used PIN.
Gives weird errors while registration.

This is what's giving issues even on the old app. It logs in fine via Customer ID/User ID and password.
