Hi all....great discussion going on this thread..hope i will get solution from here...i have 1mbps airtel broadband connection with beetel 220BX1 ADSL2+ Modem..currently my ip range is 122.169.XXX.XXX - 122.169.XXX.XXX ....my ip range has been banned from the torrent sites...so i would like to change my ip range like...something like changing the first or second octants...so the target would be like 122.xxx.xxx.xxx - 122.xxx.xxx.xxx or xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx if possible....could any one please help me..Thanks in advance.

Airtel's IPs are dynamic, you can't set them yourself, the range too can vary depending on your region, if the IP range remains the same then there is nothing much you can do about it.

thanks for ur reply karan..

but i think there is a way to do this..like changing DHCP or some settings...

DHCP is controlled on the server by Airtel. You can change you current IP by just restarting modem, but the range will remain 122.169... You can't change that range bit, only Airtel can.

oh..do they accept if i ask to change?

I don't think so, it is a pretty complicated process, they will have change/modify a whole lot more than just the numbers. My advice is just write a mail to the admins of the sites that say the IP is blocked and request them to remove it or just use a site where the range isn't blocked. Try restting the modem a couple of times and see if it jumps to another range, if Airtel has another one for your area.

ok..i will try..how can i reset the modem settings?..

Thanks in advance..

Not the settings, the modem itself, turn off, then back on. :) That way it will drop the current session and IP and be reassigned a fresh IP.
