OK peeps, new finding here:

On my device admin page , only WAN MAC is printed not PON MAC(hope I didn't confuse these terms)

I looked in to my device's dumped config file and it has mac address which matches with one shown on Self care ( btw there are many mac address defining entry in config file)

Also on the back of ONT, PON MAC and WAN mac is written but again to my surprise the PON mac printed on the device is off by one digit than one shown on SelfCare

Also the moment i asked Varkey about ipv6 config since then my internet is down, although sad but great opportunity to catch the culprit in session log but the last session log(session end) is when my internet went down, also the MAC address match the PON MAC in ONT's config file

But,

When I was talking to varkey , that moment up total data usage was 1 TB with 30 something GB (s) usage for that day but now when I checked again it has crossed TB threshold with 1 TB 56 GB, according selfare on the day before Monday the data usage was 1 TB 12 GB on Monday it was 1 TB 56 Gb with total day usage of 30s something GB(I have posted in older post on this thread)

Subtracting the MB usage between two days , there 44 GB data difference between these two days , assuming I only used 40 GB max that day before my internet went out just for the sake of calculation where did that extra 4 GB went :(. ( my internet is still down right now)

(PON led is green but admin page shows that ip PPPoE is down)

I am gonna complain tomorrow, so I need you guys advice to make my case rock solid !

UPDATE: I think massive changes are going on in BSNL backend

Earlier just for fun setting IPv4/IPv6 mode would give me IPv6 but no IPv6 addr and it always down but now i don't get that and IPv6 is down too

Secondly Rx power which -8 dBm earlier went to -14 dBm and now it is -4 dBm?( I don't know if this is good or bad)

Hello @Cheated1011 Could you check if any ports are open? You could use some tool like shieldsup.

I cant be sure if the reason is the same. I've faced a similar issue many months back, ie unexplained upload, and mainly upload only data usage. long story kept short 😅 - while configuring DOH on my pihole dns server, I had accidentally opened a port. What I suspect was my ONT was used in some form of DNS amplification attack?[#1]. Anyways removing the DOH port / portion from pihole stopped this. I then played around with the ONT settings as i posted here - BSNL FTTH Connection ONT vulnerabilities - Increase security | BSNL FTTH Bharat Fiber Broadband It seems to be resolved now. Data usage logs have been as expected since.

Hope this was helpful. If it is, i'll share the details [#1]. (The data upload wasnt done by any of my network devices behind my router, as per its data usage log.)

@eriek_halenx No ports open , assuming I was vulnerable there is no way these guys can download 40+ Gb data in a day on 2 Mbps connection :( unless BSNL guys are hacked which is werid that they can cap my premises connection to 2 Mbps but not the data associated with my account.

Dear @Realme ,
I have been facing exactly same the issue with BSNL FTTH.
1. I have been seeing unreasonable upload usage in the range of 40GB to 80GB per day.
2. Data usage was seen even without any device connected to the internet.
3. One day I saw 100GB in one Day (My whole data allocation is 500GB ) :(
My solution to this problem was
1. Changing Wifi password daily ( Do not trust my device it is cheap chinese OptiLink ONT Modem)
2. Switch off the modem when not in use ( turned off except office hours )
3. I have been using NextDNS IP as DNS Server. ( Don't know if it will make any difference)
It is been very hectic 3 month for me.
Could you please please please tell me if you have got any solution for it?
I have been looking allover the internet for it.
Eagerly looking forward to your reply.

Many Thanks :)
