Horrible experience with Airtel in the past . . . Need help trusting them again

OK long story short :

1. Airtel connection (256 kbps) purchased in 2010.
2. Used for 6 months.
3. Disconnected after paying bill for final 6th month.
4. RECEIVED RECEIPT OF TERMINATION.
5. Continued to receive bill for 3 more months.
6. After refusing to pay said extra bill, harassment from recovery agencies. Apparent case registered in delhi.
7. Ignored all nonsense till the harassment eventually stopped.
8. Guy from AIRTEL tells me that my case is with their recovery agents and they cannot do anything about it even though he acknowledged that my connection was indeed terminated at the end of the 6th month.

So now what I need to know from this lovely group of internet addicts is :

1. If i reapply for an airtel connection, what are the chances that they will bring up this same old case again. I am residing at the same address as when this issue occurred.
2. Has anyone else had a similar experience with Airtel specifically? If so, how did that work out for you?
