How is Tata Sky Broadband in Mumbai?

So, a few days ago I got the Tata Sky Broadband connection (trial) installed which is on Fibre Optic technology and I am completely spoiled with it. Didn't faced a single breakdown in connectivity since the activation. Speeds are as advertised. Infact, I am getting more than the actual speeds. Uploads and downloads are on 1:1 ratio which is a good thing. I think I am going to switch over once my Hathway subscription ends. Hathway is pathetic. They are giving me churan since one year that fibre optic is going to be implemented and still no update.

Any Hathway subscriber reading this, please stay away from Hathway in whichever city you are based. They are pathetic in every sense.

@vishalrao The offer was only specific to our society. It's a 1 month trial. Either 2500 or 3000 amount to be paid (which is refundable) for 50 or 100 Mbps plans respectively. Both unlimited, actually 1500 GB FUP which is enough.

So, after a month you can continue with the offers they provided or you can opt out and get the refund.

Actually, those guys are offering me 12+5 months additional so I might take it. 10190 for 17 months including taxes is a fair deal I think.

Ah so the FUP is actually 1500 GB? Did they tell you that? Because everywhere else they are just claiming "unlimited" and I was sure there was hidden FUP in the terms and conditions somewhere

Offer is good enough, especially if you dont have other options! Personally I don't trust the "unlimited" claim, I am sure there is some FUP hidden somewhere in the fine print

Actually I checked in the self-care portal and it's 1500 GB. But the guy I spoke to said that if you ever cross 1500 GB for a month, we will update that from our system.

I still think it's unlimited. Because here, in our area, they are advertising like "You can now use terabytes of data per day". (Not kidding, they have printed brochures by that punchline)

Personally, for me, around 500-600 GB is enough for a month.

One more thing, the unused data gets carry forward. So, it's practically unlimited.

Hathway is actually good in Chennai.
My friends are happy with it , get advertised speeds and has no downtimes.
One of the best value for money isp in Chennai.
799 for 150/50 Mbps service on GPON with 1500 gb.

@bjorg18 - Please post some pictures or links from speedtest.net and share your experience with latency & pings to Google DNS if possible (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4)

I noticed the latency is higher in most of the speedtest videos or images found online for Tata Sky Broadband. I want to subscribe to their services but latency (> 10-20ms) may be a deal breaker for me because of my usage applications.

Also which router did you receive (I'm told it's a Nokia Branded)
and what type of installation is it - FTTB (they install a box with OLT in your building and then run Ethernet cable to the modem) or true FTTH (fiber goes directly into the modem, also ONU)

I will post the speed test results in a couple days time.

So far with all the speed tests I have carried out (with speedtest.net), the ping hasn't gone beyond 10 ms. It's usually 5 or 7 but that again depends upon the area you live in.

Yes, it's a Nokia branded router. Dual band router with single antenna but surprisingly it covers my whole area ~ 900 sq. ft.

It's a pure FTTH connection.
