Do you plan to subscribe to 4G LTE as soon as it becomes available on your phone?

I will select 4G plan if it can give 30-60 GB month plan with reasonable price otherwise it will be waste of money for me. Though my town is one of backward Town in India. There is actually no broadband except BSNL.
buddy even forward towns are having pathetic plans mostly. Only in Hyderabad side you can get good affordable plans. I am not able to understand that why only Hyderabad has got such a cheap plan over there. any clue?

It can be Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is best Chief Minister in India and maybe he start to make Andhra Pradesh as a Modern State of India. (for your information I really dont know which party is in Power in Andhra Pradesh and also not interested to know the ruling party of Andhra Pradesh).

It is all bit fuzzy now.

If RJio is going to put in Wifi hotspots in every locality then why does one need a 4G phone ? Any gadget with Wifi will be able to pick up 4G speeds. 802.11n can go upto 500 Mbps. In Calcutta from February RJio is providing free Wifi 1.5 Mbps in Park Street (beta testing) and no one is using a 4G phone but an ordinary phone or laptop to log in. One expects that if free is 1.5 Mbps then paid will be 10 Mbps at least.

If it is at least 5 Mbps connection with 60 GB FUP I am prepared to fork out upto Rs 1,500 for it.

If it is as expensive as 3G with silly FUP limits then no use. As soon as the tech and pricing is clear I will probably upgrade to a LTE phone.

Main point is 4G is for enjoying streaming media in HD. Even watching two hours of television will eat up at least 2.5 GB. So that means FUP cannot be below 100 GB in any plan (it makes no sense to have 4G otherwise.)

So my guess is (India does not work on logic so it is not a guess just wishful thinking) 4G maybe a game changer like free incoming calls was in 2002. The low FUP of 10 - 30 GB with 3G and ADSL may be on its way out.

We have to remember that when Reliance first launched CDMA handsets (Nokia 2280) in 2003 it was at installment of Rs 250 (for a Rs 10,000 phone.) They helped seed phones to the masses, not GSM players at that time. In 2004 they brought in a small Motorola advertised in RIM plans (no relative to Blackberry) at Rs 3,000. It was India's first mass market phone bundled with about Rs 400 talktime or so (cheapest GSM handset at that time was Nokia 3315 priced at Rs 4,000)

The mobile revolution in India (habit of buying first mobile) was powered by Reliance. I bough my first GSM sim because Reliance (and its CDMA network) helped lower call prices to Rs 1.5/min (from previous Rs 4 - 6 /min) and brought in rate cutters, sms packs etc.

If RJio can do same with data we can look forward to 4G speeds (sustained speeds above 10 Mbps) and 100 GB FUP at Rs 1500 to 2000. RJio is a content based company and as such will like to sell its library at low subscriptions (market will bear no more than Rs 50 for a 720p 3 hour movie.) Since 3 hour movie at 720p when bundled with 5.1 sound will come in at around 2.8 GB, 100 GB FUP seems logical.

Further 4G needed no outlay on auctions. So we can expect prices to be lower (as in less than half) of 3G. 3G is so expensive due to impractical auction bids.

However it seems 4G needs a large shoe box size bi directional antenna to function (what I saw in YouTube)

Yes agree. Without any unlimited plan as wired broadband, HD stream will be a Joke of the 21st Century with 32kbps FUP.

OT Visited a friend at his office today and I basically hog his comp to watch 1080p videos, :cough: :cough: 2 gb media in less than 1/2 an hour. When will the internet Gods piss my way:(?

hopefully logic will prevail and there wont be any unlimited plans on a wireless network !!!

Don't hold your breadth waiting for 4G services, at least at affordable rates.

Much of present 4G plans are on trial & testing phases. And they are practically useless because of very high prices.

Only thing you can do right now is speculate about speed & pricing. I think it will take at least a couple of years for clarity on exact nature of 4G services.

I have Airtel 4G in my city, and its cheaper than their 3G plans. But still, it is quite costly. I'll use a cheaper 3G provider on my phone instead, at least until 4G is significantly less costlier.
