How to connect BSNL 3G Nokia 5800 in Ubuntu linux

I want to know how to use Internet in Ubuntu laptop using bsnl 3g and Nokia 5800 as modem. I searched in google and found the following ways but did not work.There is a program called GNOME PPP in ubuntu program directory. By searching in Internet But not working for me.I gave username ppp and password ppp123, in setup, I asked to identify modem and dialed *99***8# but did not work, also tried *99# but did not work.Anyone please tell what to do to connect bsnl 3g+nokia 5800 to ubuntu laptopThanks in advance

2 things: Do you have a data plan, and can you access the web on your phone (not WAP... The proper internet)?The packet-data settings on your phone also need to be correct for it to work.
