Apparently they are mandatory in metro cities now?

I have not heard much about them but this looks like another major scam in the making.

You cannot get a number plate made from a local car accessories shop now?

What exactly is in the number plate? RFID tags? What is the purpose?

I guess this is going to become another nuisance for the car owners in India as they would be challaned for not having these new plates.

whoa. so it is mandatory for older vehicles too? i should inform the uncle who asked me about few days ago. i thought it was not applicable on older vehicles.

I don't believe registration of new vehicles is "blocked" - it's just that the new HSRPs are mandatory now.

My new car salesman (I'm getting a Polo GT TSI) just called me to say registration (with new HSRP number plates) is in process and I will get delivery on Monday - we were aiming for Saturday hence the call to inform me.

This is in Pune/Maharashtra in my case.

my car is older than yours and it has this from my understanding. if you got it from the dealer and it was punched (not screwed) into the car, it should be high security one.

So, I placed an order in the last week of September and appointment was of today. I didn't go, because I was not sure if my order was placed successfully in the first place. I received an order confirmation but it says the payment timed out, but money was deducted. I have been trying to get in touch with the customer service, they don't answer. They don't revert to the emails.

The address they've given is non-existent on Google. I called some number I got off Google, and they told me I've to go to Gokulpuri which is North Delhi, 30 KMs from where I was supposed to get the sticker.

And just now I got a call from Hyundai, asking if I made an enquiry for a service. I asked if she's calling from A-9 Mohan Cooperative, she tells me that is their old address, the service center has shifted. I explained to her that I need a colored sticker that comes with HSRP, she then tells me, sir A-9 par hi milega, but call this number first, which she gave me. So I called the number, and turns out, they don't have any order ready for just the colored stickers. And asked me to call before visiting as they don't know kab ayenge stickers.
