no its not, you just need to login after 2 and logout before 8 am. modem reboot has got nothing to do with data flow, account authentication phase has everything to do with it.
Secondly, i don't know why you people are so defensive abt. the vinuthomas forum finding solutions before this one. Of course its true that the vinuthomas.com forum is a much more exhaustive, informative and dynamic forum that this one. but that does not mean that other forums can't co exist.
Windows is not the only OS in the world, there are many others.

yes but if it u can reauthenticate using the rasdial command without the need of a hard reboot then thats something the computer can do in the night without user intervention but hard reboot is that much more difficult although it can also be done without user intervention with the help of a relay based timed switch / power board

I have a Home 1800 - 512kbps plan. If I start using the NU plan to the fullest, I can download about 30 to 35 GB in a month plus my usual 5 GB quota....Why don't the people at BSNL realise this and just give us a decent monthly quota like 25 GB for the 512k plan, 50 GB for the 1 mbps, 10GB for the 384k and say 5GB for 256k (Rs700) plan, so I dont have to stay awake till 2am and wake up again before 8am? boohoo :-(All this damn schedule this, schedule that... BAH!

i just figured out,That if we go for sleep after starting the downloads at 2am, there is a possibility that we do not get desired results. the reason being the windows update, that forces system restart. be carefull.
