Yup. It does seem they realized they can make a lot more profit when they got such a huge demand. They just informed existing customers about delays & that they may not be able to deliver the goods in the stipulated time & if you want you can wait or cancel. And when most people cancelled. They simply doubled the price & put it for sale again.
heh. demand and supply man. who could blame them. i think most units sold for 99 dollars was reselling for around USD 200 on ebay just days after sale.
They still are going for crazy prices. The demand has however slowed down, though not enough to avoid crazy listings like 'Touchpad drawing', or 'Touchpad location update' and so on
they are making a loss on each unit sold in the market. and no one would be buying it if it was not being sold for USD 100-150. this changes nothing. HP probably had pending orders that they are probably processing. and they are trying to generate some goodwill by claiming that they are doing it because of high demand. it is pretty clear that they can make million units and they would still sell out at USD 99.
HP has said that they would release updates for webos which is a better OS than android and iOS for tablet .... its just that touchpad isn't using it well enough hardware-wise . if HP(or the company which buys webOS off of their hands) keeps the promise and keeps updating webOS , i think people who dump webOS for android on their touchpad might be losing on a great tablet OS .i ordered a pre2 from US . even without any warranty , its a steal. now only if i can get a touchpad next time around.
