Hai there.
I am a new member here ( but have been a frequent reader of posts here especially related to BSNL broadband and fiber ). So finally after canvassing my neighbours and convincing BSNL officials, they have finally extended FTTH lines to my locality ( I live in a very rural place ) and i am steps away from finally getting FTTH connection. ( No, no LCOs in between ). I bought a TP-Link GPON router ( managed to :-) ) TP-Link-XN020-G3v-300Mbps-Wireless-Gigabit.
But due to some issues, BSNL technician is not able to pair that with their OLT and is asking me to get a Netlink GPON ( which seems very common thought its a chinese product wrapped in a new box by an indian firm with semi chinese firmware and yeah i know TPLINK is chinese too but atleast its better functionality wise). So what do you guys suggest me, should i insist BSNL to set my tplink somehow ( may take many more days ) or just return it and get a netlink one and get the connection today or tomorrow. I know basics of networking and i am planning to set it this router to bridge mode very soon ( I got an archer c6 already or dedicate a RBPI for this purpose ) but i dont want to do that right away. So my queries are.. is netlink reliable ?.
Does it support port forwarding ( if i am using it in router mode itself )
From other answers in the forum, i think it works well in bridge mode.
Welcome opinion from you guys.

@varkey Another reason i decided to pay this guy is to get it up and running real quick.. i didnt want to wait another week for the modem to arrive. Due to heavy rain last few days, the BSNL copper seems to have issue somewhere and i am hit with lots of line noises and stability issues. They are going to take days to localize the issue and fix it and iam struggling to work with my Vodafone 4g.

@varkey one more query. I just followed your thread about setting up voice and sip. So was wondering in order to make it possible do I need to get ont with that rj11 port or will it still work if get a basic ont without any rj11 port

@JB701 the price i mentioned was for Netlink one with WIFI and 2 Giga ports.. Any idea how much that costs ?.. i know the price i was offered is high.. but trying to find out by how much its overpriced.. :)
You can refer the actual prices here: GPON GEPON NETLINK OPTON FOBER HIGH QUALITY FTTH but good luck finding one at that prices.

If you are planning on using a router anyway, why not get a modem without wifi? They are cheaper and you won't be paying for things you don't use.

you are better off getting an ONT with the FXS port because, setting up SIP is only successful on Windows PC as of now. Doesnt work in android. So if you need to use wifi then get an ONT with FXS port.

If you need to use a physical traditional telephone instrument, then yes, you would need an ONT with a SIP ATA inbuilt that comes with the RJ11 port.

You could configure the BSNL number on a soft phone, but I have got it working only with my router running a custom firmware and a utility called siproxd to work around issues with NAT. If you have a Raspberry PI which is always on, you can run siproxd on that as well and make use of a soft phone on Android or any device you'd like.

@varkey Thanks for the clarification. Yes i am planning to use openwrt on raspberry pi and use it as a router. I can run siproxd on that.
lets see. Anyways i will getting connection today most probably. If they have a basic Netlink ont available i will go for that else i will go for one with wifi.
Archer c6 do have openwrt support, but my firmware version doesnt have support for flashing via UI yet. so will wait for that too.

Try posting tabular data as text instead of image
Okay.. so here is the update.. All is good. I got a Netlink one with 2 Lan ports and wifi and RJ11 port.
Went for 1277 Plan. ( I was on 1029 PLAN In broadband before ) The line statistics are

1601121600212.webp

I guess they are really good numbers.
I set the Internet WAN to bridge mode and connected it to my archer c6. All was good.. but some queries here.
When i connected c6 to port 1 of ONT, the negotiated speed was only 100Mbps ( I am running cat6 ) but for port 2 its getting set to 1 Gbps. So is ONT's port1 restricted to 100mbps ?.. But yeah i got it working on port2 ( bound the wan to port 2 ).
Went ahead and flashed openwrt to c6 -> Was pretty straight forward -> I have read about wifi issues but they are working on it.. so i didnt feel it as a show stopper..

Okay i went through the thread about setting up SIP and read that @varkey managed to do it without running a second cable from ONT to router. SO varkey, i believe its only possible if you are not on bridge mode right ?.. If the ONT internet wan is on bridge port bound to lets say port1, i wont be able to bind voice to same port right. So i should run another cable or is there any workarounds ? :-p

And one more update -> Tried to connect via IPV6 but it kept returning v4 so i guess its not enabled in my SSA yet.
