i started buying powerbanks since 2018 and here’s how long it lasted

Mi 10000 mah (Oct 2018-nov 2020) - battery swollen

Mi 20000 Mah (Jan 2021 - oct 2023) - battery swollen

Mi 10000 mah (Aug 2022-now) - battery swollen

All of them were working even with a swollen battery ,but it gave me a lot of paranoia as i felt it will blow up any sec but due to tight budget i keep using it with that risk

should i buy a different brand? Anyone has good experience?

Also:all the powerbanks were bought from Amazon and are original

So, I am going to state the obvious here. Batteries have limited life. And this is bound to happen. Considering this happens within first two years of ownership, I can assume that you are using these to charge your devices on a regular basis. My current power bank is few years old now, but it still works fine. It’s the OnePlus model which is no longer on sale but I like the design so I try to avoid using it a lot.

I have owned a few different models. Ambrane was quite shit. Mi was fine. Most I just gave away to friends and family who needed one. So, I have never had a swollen battery issue personally. Batteries usually have a recharge cycle of 500-600, I think. So, to end up with a swollen battery, you would need to be using them daily and recharging them 3-4 times a week. If not, I guess you just got unlucky all this time…

If you want to try getting a non-Mi device next, I can suggest Stuffcool. Raegr I do not think make regular power banks.

@Sushubh i see ,well i knew about battery charge cycle thing but I thought bigger battery degraded slower but thats not the case at all in mine

And yes there is almost a daily usage of all the powerbanks i had ,since i use an iPhone 11 and i have this battery anxiety hence i carry my powerbank everytime i go out

btw do you think its a good idea to buy more expensive Anker or Shargeek powerbanks?

I would avoid buying imported units. Eventually all of them are likely getting their battery cells from the same source in China or elsewhere. Stuffcool is not a generic brand and seems to develop products inhouse instead of rebranding stuff like a lot of other companies. They have local presence so warranty should have some value. Just think of them as disposable products with limited shelf life and do not overpay for imported units. And dump them as soon as they start to inflate!

Power banks are charged and discharged rapidly, so they are likely to degrade faster than smartphones. Size of the battery probably does not matter if they are being used heavily.

Damn i see
Thanks for the suggestion @Sushubh

Now with battery anxiety i have anxiety that my powerbank will blowup anyday

for a product costing 1200-1500 rupees that can explode on puncture or excessive heat... i think it's best to play it safe lol.

yeah i mean after the note 7 saga i followed online, i really do not take chances with batteries. i even avoid charging my samsung at 25w now that it is two years old. slow charging ftw. fast charging only when i am in a hurry and i do not want to carry power bank with it.
