Another SOPA Casualty: Imgur To Leave GoDaddy | WebProNews

While Wikipedia represents perhaps the most famous of the sites willing to leave GoDaddy’s service, another popular service, Imgur.com, is in the process of moving its domain away from GoDaddy’s index.

ok. imgur stated a long time ago that they can and would move from GoDaddy. it's just a domain name. and a domain name costs just USD 7 on godaddy. it does not really hurt godaddy. there is not much money in domains for godaddy. they probably make majority of money from other services. hosting etc etc. folks like us do not use godaddy for hosting. imgur for sure does not use their hosting. majority of payments made by imgur are for hosting (bandwidth and storage) and that money is made by the company offering his hosting.

Noticed today that Imgur is running on CloudFlare. I am not sure if this is a good thing. The service has become very unreliable for me. Bulk uploading images has become a painful process.

yes from yesterday for me a few couple of time image uploading failed. Thought it is a wired thing. Now i come to know the reason

Cloudfare was hacked 2-3 days back by UNazi people.

the hack from unazi was a claim that was not really proved. cloudflare had two blog posts detailing about the hack.
