IPv6 Support on Excitel Broadband

{offtopic} to @philip marlowe i know that static ips are costly but a solution of some kind is much needed .
i can think of two things -

1 - offer opening of ports via registering a request.
example - i want to open xyz port . i call/email you guys giving detailed info of the port i want to open and why i want to get it opened. your backend guys then forward the port on your main public ip. if a port is something like that can be abusive to your network you can deny the customers request. but if a port pertains to a video game , if it gets forwarded on your main public ip , it shouldnt cause any problem to anyone.

2 - create a portal that the customers can use to forward the ports. i dont know how this can be done, this can be abusive as well . but just a thought that came into my mind.

Will IPv6 suffice your needs or particularly IPv4 Public IP is required?

Excitel is working towards IPv6 as this will give basically unlimited Public IPs :)
 
Ipv6 would be even better as more and more isps will shift toward it in the near future.

But how will it be deployed, a single ipv6 for a user or a block of IPs for all his devices?
 
Act seems to be doing it the second way from what I read. All devices get individual ipv6 ips ?
 
WIth IPv6 and individual IPs and IoT and all that shite there will be more and more cases of hacking/botnets and what not since the bad guys will now have direct access to all devices.
 
Yup I agree with that, but it offers various advantages also. If you don't want your IoT devices to get public ip use can still use a router to put them behind a NAT device and give them all private ipv6/ipv4 IPs
 
i would go with ipv6 as this the future even though i have very little knowledge about this field. gonna youtube about it

but the sooner we migrate to new tech the better.

a lot of vulnerable (like unpatched windows) devices which are not properly configured and do not have a firewall would start broadcasting on internet basically with publicly available penetration tools you can start scanning internet and hack a lot of devices.

A good router with stateful firewall should be enough to block these attacks by blocking any incoming connection not initiated from your device. If virus is already installed in user device like you downloaded something then NAT does not helps only attacker needs a static ip for C&C server.
 
can somebody with knowledge about ipv6 and dual stacking tell me how it actually works? i googled and got the basic gist of it that it refers to running both ipv4 and ipv6.

for an end user like me how does it actually work?

say for example - i play a lot of multiplayer video games and due to Dual nat on excitel games like tekken 7, that require ports to be opened to connect to a wider player base, dont work.

after excitel implements dual stacking, how will i be benefited ?
