I can explain what has been reduced. At the page you fill in the passenger details, the captcha has improved a lot. Then after you proceed, you will be shown the fare and then at the same page you can choose the payment method. 1. Netbanking with dropdown list of banks, 2. Credit card payment gateway with drop down menu, 3. Debit card with drop down menu of list of banks.
When you select that you will be directly sent to the bank website (i had selected SBI netbanking)

So 1 page reduced where you dont have to wait for intermediate "payment" page.
But then the first page "proceed for booking" is added!
So overall number of clicks would be same!

The Find Trains page used to appear randomly even from the old website. Seems they were testing it back then.
Also captcha for logging in?
Anyways seems I am not a part of the test phase. Got asked to use irctc.co.in

When you select the payment type as credit card and then select the gateway the section to fill in details appear on the same page probably through javascript. So 1 step is saved here as well.

To book e-tickets , click "Proceed For Booking". After migration new transactions can be viewed in "Booked Ticket History" in Next Generation e-Ticketing website.

LOL I actually checked if I can change firstname and last name starting with A but then they are not allowing to change names. Once set is final
