Exactly. Time has come that they move on and catch up with the rest of the world and of course all that depends on what Modi wants. His one of the many major aims is towards the focus on making digital India which also includes high speed internet networks. On implementing 1Mb the revenue loss will not be as considerate if 2Mb is not possible right now.

Don't take my word for it. Just look at the Budget. Why Modi is cutting Budget in education, water resource development, human resource development, healthcare, child welfare? Do some research.

My estimate is that it will take couple of years at least.

I am against many bad policies of Telecom giants. But one thing is right. Govt's Auction of spectrum & making it as a miking cow for revenue generation is straining Balance sheets of telecom companies to some extent.

For rapid development of IT sector, India needs easy upfront allocation of Spectrum and other resources. Also relaxation in regulations in that regard.

The NDA mantra of milking the spectrum cow is very bad for India.

Andhra Pradesh got 2mbps speed, I hope next Gujrat and then other states and lastly my backward town where one and only BSNL is actual Broadband provider.
