Same problem. Just got a MTNL 3G sim and getting pings >200 ms consistently and very slow speeds. Hoping it's not permanent. Am browsing through phone as modem though, does it make any difference that it's not from a data card ? Do the speeds increase, because MTNL CC told me that with data cards you can expect anything between 512 kbps to 2 Mbps.

I bet the original poster is talking about Triband service which should ideally have pings less than 80ms. @nevillekYes there is a again problem with high pings these days. MTNL can provide us with low pings. But where's the incentive? Where is the drive?

Oops! I just realized i misread the post and the thread! Sorry! Though seems like 3g and Triband are giving the same problem today! :D

sad, same here. Can't even game online properly with the little time I get :/. I couldn't even get it to work in bridge mode for a while, it just wouldn't connect. It's been this way for me since the past 4-5 days :(

At my office, it's not even connecting for past 3 days. Lodged a complaint. Lets see.At my home, it started working after multiple router reboots.

Yeah, I was talking about my triband home connection... Speedtest.net shows me the correct download speed (1.78 Mbps for my 2 Mbps plan) but Pingtest.net clearly exposes MTNL's bad service... Sometimes, it's just working fine and sometimes, it's terrible... Also, I wonder why does Pingtest choose Kathmandu, Dhaka, etc. as the best servers when I'm located in Mumbai and there is a server in Mumbai... I can't choose it manually either... But either way, the connection is definitely bad because I encounter a lot of lags... Here are the screenshots for those interested:

(P.S. I'm wondering if some pages load incompletely because of the same ping problem, because although the page opens in my Firefox browser, the green circular "refresh" arrow on the page-tab keeps revolving, indicating that the page is still loading. For example, it happens on this site too. Does anyone know why this is happening? It wasn't happening with my Hathway connection.)

Yea I was playing this online game called World of Warcraft(WoW). My pings in WoW are usually 200-300ms but lately they spike to >500 and even thousands. I reckon its an issue on MTNLs end. Perhaps a temporary problem because of the rains ?

Yeah but too much of "temporary" goes on to "permanent" mostly :angry (2):

I don't get it why does Speedtest and Pingtest select weird parts of India as the preferred servers for the test instead of choosing Mumbai itself, does anyone know how to select the server manually? :silly:

I am playing world of warcraft since 2 years or more on wow Europe server i always used to get 200-300 ping like you .. Since past week i could not raid and i had to quit my hardcore guild which are 2/7 heroic fireland .
I was using Airtel and now i switched to MTNL i thought it will solve the problem but same issue Home latency is like 250 and world latency more then 700 or above 1k which is horrible .

I am very pissed and feels like quitting that game now .
