Also I dont understand how people get their phones screen scratched by sand. I mean where do they get sand from.

Have my nexus 4 without any screen protector. I'd only be using the original bumper case which comes from google too, not anything else.

my case and screen protector has protected the display from my own nails. it has also prevent the screen from breaking during nasty falls on concrete while i was coming out of my car several times. i have even managed to drop it from significant height without any damage.
