The new boxes are mpeg4 DVB-S2 so does that mean old customers too will have to switch to mpeg4 DVB-S2? and only then they will be able to increase the number of channels!
Yes.... they can charge a nominal fees.. but must now switch to mpeg-4
Guys, Moving from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 is not a child's play. They need to exchange 5 millions STB's to do so. This require huge investment, Rite now the compression technology TS is using in MPEG-2 for HD its MPEG-4.
TS has installed Ericsson head end hardware which allows more mpeg2 channels to be transmitted with more and better compression algorithm; i.e. more mpeg2 channels per transponder with existing mpeg2 STBs. How much extra only TS can tell as Ericsson is silent on this issue.
