Is there anyway to modify Zee dish Tv STB

Hi experts, I bought “ZEE Dish Tv” 8 months ago. Now, my VC is deactivated and “Dish Tv person” asking me to subscribe any one of the “package” . I am satisfied with “free-to-air” channels. I don’t want to pay money monthly. So, is there any option to alter the “set-top box” so that I can view only “free-to-air” channels ?. If there is any option how much it will cost ?. i think there is no way to modify STB, u can buy FTA stb its available for 900-1200rs......

Thanks Deva for your help. Can you give me the details of FTA STB like set-top model number etc. Do i need to buy a new dish antenna and LNB also for the FTA STB ?. Or can i use the dish antenna and LNB of "Zee Dish tv" for FTA STB. Thanks,Ravikumar.

u can use ur old dish antenna and LNB provided by dishtv.......FTA stb's are available in d market in the range of 900-1200rs.......Beetel,coship are some gud brands........

before that please check the fine print. They may have some loop holes by which they can fight back, maybe the STB is owned by DTV or something like that.

When i contacted "customer care" (CC) , they say FTA channels are complement with their packages. So, I have left with no option.I will purchase FTA STB as per Deva's suggestion. Its my ignorance that i have not cofirmed that FTA channels are free without any subscription before purchasing "Zee dish tv". when I asked CC that if i return the whole "Dish tv" equipment, what will i get in return. They say i will receive only Rs.400. Thanks,Ravikumar.

If they block FTA channels even after your subscription expired you can send a show cause notice to Dish TV company asking that why can't you take legal action against them for blocking FTA signals which are not beaming from their package(or Sat).
If they not acting or replying go for consumer court and send a legal notice claiming for a good money (minimum 50,000 Rupees) for making you in trouble and see the result.
You have full right to watch all FTA channels and these dogs don't have any share of bones when you purchased the STB outright from any vendor (including them).
Well you are getting FTA channels from Dish Tv transmission only. Even DD Direct+ TP is added by Dish TV. Otherwise Dish TV's software doesn't provide option to add other sat. channels.

So we can't do anything. . I asked about it to my friend who is experts in Law.((

Deva,Thanks for your wonderful help. I am very new to DTH world. Can you please suggest me a good model number of Beetel/coship STB and in chennai where can i buy these STBs ?. Will all the FTA STB provide same number of channels ?. After buying FTA STB is it enough to just replace "Dish Tv" with "FTA STb", or do i need to change the direction of "Dish antenna" ?.Thanks,Ravikumar.

Dish TV and DDD+ are very near to each other so even by just changing the STB it should work without problem and u can receive all FTA channels provided by DDD+ package.I had purchased a Beetel SD95 less than a month back but planning to get a DreamBox soon, so don't mind selling my Beetel SD95. Its less than a month old and carries 1 year all india warranty and bill, let me know if interested.
