Guys. I was trying to boot the phone without putting in the battery. Amazon unit was probably alright. I just did not bother to look in the box.

yes. the battery was hidden below the cardboard box. and i assumed that the phone came with internal battery. my last two phones had internal batteries.

i had almost given up. was going to file a return request on flipkart when i noticed that there was no slot for memory card or sim on the corners of the phone.

that kind of lightened up the bulb over my head. took off the back cover and realized what a doofus i am.

i also got the sim cut coz i assumed it took microsim. so i had to set it up with the cut sim in the outer body which comes with its own share of risks.

overall, an enlightening experience. i do like miui from what i saw of it today.

You can buy micro-SIM to normal SIM adapter from local shops that do mobile recharge near your home. It will cost Rs 10 only.

They are also available on Amazon but are priced higher.

Its a pain in the ass to use these adapters. Its better off to buy a new duplicate sim.

would get a new sim sometime this week. there is a vodafone mini store in my sector. or maybe i would port out to idea because voda is not exactly in great shape in gurgaon!
