JioFiber Bufferbloat: 2024 vs 2026 but the lag spike is EXACTLY the same

Although i have seen people complaining a lot about JioAirfibre regarding speeds and red light issues etc. but Iam pretty much satisfied with AirFibre as of now , as iam getting exactly 30 mbps while downloading (they installed c6 as iam near to tower LOS) , surfing is pretty decent , with warp iam able to browse more faster . BUT the issue is while playing FreeFire (which my brother plays) , there is ping issues which we did not faced in excitel fibre connection .
as i saw in your screenshot it says online gaming is green tick and great so might be if i try your way of a secondary router may be i will get good pings in gaming as well . :)

The main thing is that you’re using AirFiber. It usually gives uneven ping and fluctuating latency, which isn’t as stable as a wired fiber connection. That’s why gaming can feel inconsistent, even if speeds look good.
Honestly, I don’t think the secondary router trick I mentioned will make a big difference for gaming on AirFiber, but you can still try it and see if there’s any minor improvement.
 
What does bufferbloat do in terms of internet quality? Do you check it for gaming? This is my result.

@Kinnu Bufferbloat shows how much latency increases when the network is under load. It doesn’t matter much for browsing, but it’s very important for gaming, calls, and streaming because latency spikes cause lag.

Your result is excellent 8 ms unloaded latency and only +5 ms under download, which means your connection handles congestion very well and should be great for gaming even when the network is busy.

• Which ISP is this and which plan are you on (1 Gbps / 2 Gbps / business)?
• Is your connection GPON or XGS-PON?
• What ONT/router model are you using? Does it have a 2.5G or 10G LAN port?
• Are you testing on Ethernet or Wi-Fi? If Ethernet, is your PC NIC 2.5G+?
• Which speed test server did you use?
 
The ISP’s name is Expresswire. He is my friend and a local ISP who provides services only in my city and nearby villages. He has two GPON OLTs and a 10G switch installed at my home, connected with fiber from two sides to his main office. This setup protects my area from a main outage if one occurs.


I am directly connected to the 10G switch. My home PC is connected via fiber from the 10G link on the switch, and my PC has an Intel X520-DA2 network card.


The plan is an unlimited speed plan. He sells a 1 Gbps plan for ₹600 but advertises it as unlimited speed. Through a GPON router, I get around 900–950 Mbps. When connected directly to the switch, I get close to 2 Gbps speed. But data limit is only 3300GB.

installed excitel 200 mbps plan today and here are the results :-

Idk why Jio airfiber has less unloaded latency than Excitel . @raj17 @Skye
 
@invisible007 Jio shows lower ping when the connection is idle, so on paper it looks faster. But the moment there’s download or upload going on, the latency jumps a lot, which is why the bufferbloat score drops. That’s when gaming, calls, or streaming start to feel laggy.
Excitel has a slightly higher idle ping, but it stays stable even when the line is under load. That’s why real-world usage feels smoother.
 
i have excitel 300 mbps connection and got A+ on bufferbloat with no QoS enabled. pings remain stable 24x7.
also have jio and i get B on that normally. Though loaded latency is huge issue on jio so i usually enable QoS on jio and connection remains stable when network is loaded at my end.
