@cyberwiz...well, that online bill was wrong...read the same thread (I'm screwed!) and u'll find more information at the end...i totally agree with muttster on the speed thing...and the most important thing i found out was yesterday...it was...The splitter provided shall be connected at the main tapping point of 2-wire Tel cable of MTNL. Additional Extension/Phone if any shall be connected only after splitter.means, nothing before the splitter (modem) in the line from exchange...earlier i was splitting it at that point only...one line to modem and one to phone...today i rectified it and could reach upto 30 kBps...and it's already mentioned we do have that loss...Internet protocols add extra bits which are around 10 to 15%. Hence actual speed obtained is 10 to 15% higher than what you get.
